The Story Behind MHM by j.e.d

In 2020, Kimani Mason and Earlean Davis designed the original Mental Health Matters graphic together — a brain split in two, with silhouettes of two people seated between its halves, set beneath the words Mental Health Matters. It was a quiet, deliberate message: that healing is never a solo project, and that the people sitting closest to us often carry the heaviest weight in silence.
Earlean passed away in March after a long struggle with mental illness, leaving behind the daughter she shared with Kimani. In her memory, Kimani asked Sierra Brooklynn to keep this design in production so the message she helped create could continue to reach people navigating their own mental health.
All proceeds from the MHM by j.e.d line go directly to their daughter.
This is the origin of MHM by j.e.d — the signature line within our Mental Health Matters collection. Every piece carries the original j.e.d design and honors the two people who made it.
Our mission
Our mission with this line is to spread awareness of suicide prevention and mental health disorders. It is our way of reminding others that it is okay to reach out, and that help is always within reach.
Mental Health Matters is more than apparel — it's a reminder carried into the moments that matter most.
The pieces
The line goes beyond hoodies and tees — it includes long-sleeve t-shirts, crewneck sweatshirts, sweatpants, and more, each carrying the original j.e.d graphic.
- Hoodies — sizes S–2XL in red, black, and white. The white hoodie is also offered with a neon pink or baby blue graphic. A 50% cotton / 50% polyester blend with a drawstring hood and a front pocket to keep your hands warm.
- Tees — 100% ring-spun cotton, classic fit, sizes S–2XL.
- Long-sleeve tees, crewneck sweatshirts & sweatpants — also part of the lineup, with more on the way.
